An Air India Express flight from Hyderabad experienced a nose-wheel malfunction during landing at Phuket International Airport in Thailand on Wednesday, forcing authorities to temporarily suspend runway operations. The aircraft remained on the runway following the incident, prompting airport officials to close the runway for several hours for inspection and clearance.
All 133 passengers on board flight IX938 were safely deplaned after the landing, and no injuries were reported. Airline officials said the crew followed standard safety protocols to ensure passengers were safely evacuated from the aircraft.
Initial information indicated that the aircraft made a hard landing, which resulted in damage to the nose landing gear. The malfunction caused the aircraft to remain stationary on the runway, requiring airport teams to conduct safety checks before normal operations could resume.
Authorities said the runway remained closed for nearly five hours while inspection and clearance work was carried out. Flight operations resumed later after officials confirmed that the runway was safe for aircraft movement.
